ABANDONMENT WOUNDS

ABANDONMENT WOUNDS

Abandonment wounds are emotional imprints that form when someone important was emotionally or physically unavailable, inconsistent, or left entirely. These wounds can show up later as fear of being too much, panic when someone pulls away, or difficulty trusting that relationships will last. This is not about being needy, it is about survival strategies built in response to loss, rupture, or neglect. In therapy, we can explore where these wounds began, how they are showing up now, and what it means to feel safe in connection again.
